Reflexology Lymph Drainage is an award-winning reflexology technique that was developed by Sally Kay to help patients with breast cancer related lymphoedema. The technique focuses on the lymphatic reflexes on the feet and aims to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body. It is a unique reflexology sequence, following the principles of Manual Lymphatic Drainage, MLD, and has been shown to stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage draining of excess lymph fluid from the system with measurable results.
Lymphoedema is caused by the build up of excess fluid, commonly in the arms and legs when lymph fails to drain efficiently from the tissues. This generally occurs as a result of surgery when lymph nodes may have been removed. The condition can be very debilitating and painful as well as distressing for the person when a limb is enlarged and uncomfortable.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage is a non-invasive treatment, usually performed on the feet. It is also possible to treat the hands. It is gentle and relaxing. Both the affected limb and the other limb are measured carefully before and after the treatment. A course of 4 to 6 one hour sessions are usually given.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage has also shown positive results on other common (non-cancer related) conditions including
Reflexology is a complementary therapy and no claims are made for diagnosis or cure.
It is not a substitute for medical treatment and advice.
